Having run in the 2016 Chester Metric Marathon, three friends from Penyffordd met up for a run and had by coincidence turned up in the same blue running top they’d received from the race and joked that they looked like a running club.

It was this casual statement which seeded the idea of setting up a running club in Penyffordd and Penymynydd, and after chatting to a few other runners they knew they put a notice on the village Facebook page asking whether there were any like-minded people who fancied meeting up a few times a week in the village for a run.  The response was overwhelming with over 100 people who showed interest.

The club was set up to provide friendly and social running in Penyffordd that would welcome everyone from novice starters to seasoned runners with a mix of running skills and paces so you’ll never run alone.

From this they created their own Facebook running group with the first meeting held on Wednesday 12th October 2016 with 13 people turning up for a 3.5 mile run.  An official name (Penyffordd Run Club) was selected, running colour (Green) chosen which in turn have been used to create our own running merchandise. Since then numbers have grown and we have got through the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic and the club is still going strong.
